Handicaps at Panaga

The club uses the USGA Handicapping system.

Panaga Handicaps are valid worldwide.

All players are reminded that under the USGA system, all cards (even social cards) should be submitted for inclusion in the player’s handicap record.

Individual handicap records are available at the P.G.C. Golf Administration Office. If you require a print-out in order to review your handicap record, please contact one of the P.G.C. Staff, and the Hon Handicap Secretary for any queries.

Men’s Golf Section

A properly established handicap is required for entry into all competitions at the Panaga Golf Club.

Under USGA Rules, all play, whether it be, in competition or practice, scorecards must be returned to the P.G.C. and entered into the handicap system.

No players without an established handicap or with a lapsed handicap are allowed to take part in any competition (P.G.C. or sponsored) except as a marker.

At least two different markers shall mark your cards. Markers shall clearly print their names and membership number and sign the scorecard. Non handicap members may only play on the course when accompanied on a one to one basis with a member who has a valid registered handicap with the P.G.C.

Handicaps are updated on the 1st day of each month, and are displayed on the P.G.C. Noticeboard at the P.G.C. Administration office. It is the responsibility of each member to clearly check that the handicap used on the course is the same as the current handicap, as displayed on the P.G.C. Noticeboard.

Ladies’ Golf Section

The Ladies Golf Section is affiliated to the USGA and the regulated in accordance with its rules, just like the Men’s Golf Section.

The Ladies Golf Section has its own independent Ladies Golf Committee. As with all other sections, the Ladies Golf Section also has elected members, the minimum being a Lady Captain, Secretary and Treasurer. The Lady Captain also sits on the main P.G.C. Committee, and a nominated member of the Ladyfs Committee also sits on the Green Committee.

Lapsed Handicaps

The PGC Handicap Committee has determined that as an absolute minimum, members should sub,it a minimum of 5 (18 holes) cards or 10 (9 holes) cards during a calender year to provide sufficient evidence of their palying ability. I draw your attention to the obligation on all members to:

  1. Post scores in all forms of play; matchplay, strokeplay, stablefords etc.
  2. Post scores from PGC and Away courses
  3. Put scores for both 9 and 18 holes round when you play, at least 13 holes for 18-holes round or at least 7 out of 9 holes round. On the holes you did not play record a par plus any handicap strokes you would have received.

Unfortunately, as you did not satisfy the requirement to submit 5 (18 holes) or 10 (9 holes) cards during the calender year 2010, your USGA Handicap will be withdrawn with effect from 01 February 2011.
