Welcome to the Panaga Golf Club

PGC President

It is my great privilege to have served as Hon Captain of the Panaga Golf Club since April 2003, at a time when, the course and facilities have seen great changes and significant improvements.

While Panaga is regarded as the ‘old lady’ of Brunei golf courses, she has certainly aged well, and recently, has had a complete make-over. Since 2001, all the tees have been significantly enlarged, their design standardised and some tees re-located further back. Two holes have been effectively swapped over, with the 1st tee being moved to in front of the P.G.C. Administration Office, and a new 9th hole being developed from the former 1st fairway and tee box. Three new greens have been built from new, and two greens modified and enlarged. Indeed, the course has growth 137 yards in the past two years, and will soon be extended by a further 10 yards once the new men’s 12th tee is brought into play.

The hard work on developing a new Golf Course Maintenance Contract has certainly reaped huge benefits, with the golf course now looking the best it has ever been. The irrigation system has been systematically overhauled with new sprinklers, and shortly all the on-course piping will be replaced. As part of the Flood Management Strategy embarked upon by the Vice-Captain, S.N.G. Billeau, a number of new ponds have been constructed, and old ponds significantly enlarged. Three fairways have been recently raised and shaped to improve drainage during monsoon seasons in an attempt to improve play during wet season.

On the environmental front, the Panaga Golf Club is very aware of the importance of the golf course to the indigenous wildlife and keen to improve the local habitat. In order to maintain, and eventually increase the number of habitats for the Pied Hornbills, the Club will have planted almost 1,000 new casuarina trees on the golf course in the last three years alone.

I sincerely hope that all Panaga Golf Club Members, Guests and Visitors will enjoy playing golf at Panaga as much as I do.
