The tennis section in Brunei is one of the cornerstones of the Panaga club’s attractions. With the new tennis court surfaces and the active and committed club committee at its base, the members have enjoyed the sections active and eventful activities. Pleasure and performance are mixed to balance the member’s abilities and playing level. Children and adults alike have enjoyed the pleasure of the high standard of the facilities which will continue to improve. Some of the highlights of the community service are :

The Junior Tennis Development Program is alive and kicking. We have approximately 150 children ranging from the age of 6 to 16 years old. The talent that is present at the Panaga tennis section is demonstrated by the high level of tennis by our youngsters who continue to demonstrate their competitive spirits. Players of all ability will find a place on the courts that gives them an opportunity to explore their talents.

We have recently attracted a new coach Domingo Feliciano, who has  brought a new élan to the tennis section. Not only technical training but also working on the tactical aspects of the game and enhancing the fitness of the members is much appreciated by the participants to his Group and Individual training sessions.

Munchkin Tennis for the very young from 6 upwards is really sought after. Due to steadily increasing numbers of younger children participating, the tennis pro has decided to add more groups to accommodate the high demand. The groups consist of a maximum of 10 children and there is a need to expand the guidance to these young enthusiastic newcomers in the tennis world. We are currently sourcing an assistant that can help with children’s development.

Social Tennis is one of the more relaxed events that provides members with  an opportunity to test their skills in mixed ability matches. Wednesday evening and Friday morning Social Tennis are a real joy for the participants. The social tennis is eventful and good fun – ‘meet end greet’ for players of all abilities who enjoy tennis.

All in all a successful section with many memorable events, taking a prominent position in the Panaga sports section.
